Welcome Parents!

I have attached the "Welcome Back to School Newsletter" that you should receive from your child on the first day of school.

I have attached the beginning of the year syllabus and expectation sheet for your child's class. Your child should keep these papers in his/her binder/folder at all times.

I have attached a copy of my Homework Policy. Again, your child should keep this paper in his/her binder/folder at all times.

My list of courses taught this year and their class period are listed below:
Pd 1: HSA Algebra
Pd 2: HSA Algebra
Pd 5: Common Core Algebra
Pd 6: Common Core Algebra
Pd 7: PreAlgebra

Below is a Supplies Wish List. If you are able to donate any of the below supplies to our classroom, it would be greatly appreciated!
  • Kleenex's
  • AA Batteries (for our graphing calculators)
  • Markers
  • Crayons
  • Scotch Tape
  • Masking Tape

Common Question #1: Is it worth the money to buy my child a graphing calculator?
  • My answer: I think it would be very wise to spend the money now to buy your child a nice TI-83 or TI-84 graphing calculator. They cost around $100 but go on sale at the start of school each year. Not only will we be using these calculators almost every day in class, your child will find it very helpful on homework assignments as well. We do have a class set of these calculators, but they tend to run of our batteries or get broken very often. If you are able to buy your child one of these calculators now, he/she will use it all throughout high school and college. In fact, I got my graphing calculator when I was in 8th grade and it is the same one I still use in class today!

Common Question #2: What technology is used in the math classroom?
  • Graphing Calculators
  • PowerPoint
  • ActivInspire
  • ActivSlate
  • Internet (BrainPop, TeacherTube)
Technology is used every single day in math class. If your child is absent and missed a lesson, I will be happy to email home the PowerPoint covered in class that day!

If you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me. I look forward to working with your child throughout this school year!
